Dr. Mhatre co-founded SMT Beschichtung GmbH in Germany and Surface Modification Technologies Pvt. Ltd. (SMTPL) in India, leading innovations in Physical Vapor Deposition (PVD) technologies and expanding SMTPL's range of surface engineering solutions. He participates in prestigious organizations like the Bureau of Indian Standards and the India Vacuum Society. He contributes to the Metal Finishers Association of India (MFAI) as an editorial board member. Dr. Mhatre also holds positions in various academic and scientific committees, enhancing surface engineering education and research both in India and globally. His expertise is frequently featured in leading industrial magazines like Indian Product Finder (IPF), Industrial Outlook, and The Machinist, highlighting the critical role of surface engineering in industry.
